ONE FOR THE MUCHACHOS'I
love it - banging beats, horny horns, so much funk you can't get a lid
on. Seniorinas, where Tito takes you, you'll want to swim(naked)'.
Craig Charles, BBC Music 6
'A bubbling set of blaxploitation grooves from Tito Lopez -- aka UK funky drummer Harbans Srih, working here in
a style that recalls the glory days of the early acid jazz scene!
Harbans and crew take their cues from the best late 60s and early 70s
work on Prestige, People, and any number of American indie labels at
the time -- and groove in a style that has bits of the JBs, Rusty
Bryant, and Johnny Pate. The core sound is nice and lean -- very
stripped down no-nonsense classic funk -- done in a style that's more
professionally topped-off than the Soul Fire/Desco crew, but with an
appeal that's equally classic.'.
